Boston International in Water Boat Show Hosts
Most Successful Event in its Six-year History

The Massachusetts Marine Trades Association (MMTA) enthusiastically extends its congratulations to the organizers and exhibitors of the Boston International In Water Boat Show for hosting the most successful event in the Show's six-year history. From September 29 to October 3, 2004, members of the recreational boating industry hosted thousands of visitors at Boston's World Trade Center for access to 120,000 square feet of indoor and several acres of in water boat displays. This marks a 20% expansion over previous years' displays. The MMTA is the flagship sponsor of the annual Boat Show event.

The Boston International In Water Boat Show is Boston's only in water show featuring over 200 in water displays and 300 indoor boat displays. Endorsed by the MMTA, the annual fall event showcases the latest in boating technology, seminars, power and sailboats, hardware, engines, and accessories.

"With each successive year the Boat Show organizers are faced with the welcome challenge of satisfying space availability demands from a growing pool of vendors that offer a diverse product base that includes trawlers, yachts, sail and powerboats and boating accessories. While the Show is consistently an economic success for the recreational boating industry, we are proud to host a family-friendly event that offers prospective boaters a pressure free environment to explore boating as an affordable form of recreation," stated Larry Russo, Sr., President of Boat Shows, Inc., owner and operator of the Boston International In Water Boat Show.

Key to the success of the Boston Show is its unique "Boat Buyers' Bonanza," which awards up to $250,000 in retail rebates to buyers at the Show. Upon placing a deposit on a boat during the Show, the buyer receives a "Bonanza Certificate" with a value ranging from $300 to $5,000. This year's Bonanza program recorded $13 Million in retail sales in three days.

"The Bonanza is what sets the Boston Show apart: it handsomely rewards visitors who elect to purchase in the fall rather than delay doing so. New England boating enthusiasts may tour several shows during the fall season, but savvy buyers wait to buy in Boston thanks to the Bonanza incentive," stated Warren Kelly, founder of Vernon Promotions and producer of the Boston International In Water Boat Show.

The seventh annual Boston International In Water Boat Show will be held from September 29 to October 2, 2005. For more information visit www.bostoninwaterboatshow.com.

You Can Help Train the Next
    Generation of Marine Technicians!

The Quincy Center For Technical Education in Quincy, MA plans to introduce a new Marine Technology Program. They are reaching out for in kind contributions from those who will most benefit from an expansion of marine trades education--marine employers.

To get their curriculum up and running they are in desperate need for:
    1. Outboard Motor Test Tanks
    2. Several Outboards in running condition that may be disassembled, reassembled and tested by students.
    3. Several Sterndrives in running condition that may be disassembled, reassembled and tested by students.
    4. Posters, diagrams, cutaways, etc., to line the walls of their large shop: pictorials of boats, motors, working scenes--anything to educate or inspire.
    5. Instructional videos and manuals on how to build boats, how to repair, introduction of vessel systems etc.
So please, take a few minutes... go through the "backside of your parts and service departments" and consider what you could donate today. They are not looking for cash... just the tools and products to foster learning.

Think about all those videos and DVDs from your manufacturers filed away, workshop manuals, posters of "last years" new boat models, basic schematic posters, mature but running outboards, engines and sterndrives that may not be marketable... Perhaps even call your OEM boat and engine manufacturers and ask them what they might be willing to contribute!

Think of what your donation would mean to a student hungry to learn AND you could make room for new materials!

If you have something you would like to contribute to students pursuing a career in the marine trades--no matter how small or large, contact Ed Lofgren, MMTA Education Committee Chair at erl@3amarine.com or call 781.749.3250.
