Dear Representative or Senator ________________

My name is _____________________ and I am writing to you from __________, located in _______________, Massachusetts.

I am requesting your support for House Bill No. 4153, filed by Representative Kujawski (D-Webster Ma) which is being heard on Monday July 18th by the Joint Committee on State Administration & Regulatory Oversight.

H. 4153, will allow the Boston Convention and Exposition Center (BCEC) to host the New England Boat Show (NEBS) starting in 2007. The operator of the current location for the Boat show (Bayside Exposition Center) has refused to extend the License Agreement to operate the show at Bayside after the February 2006 Show.

My participation in the New England Boat Show produced by North American Expositions, now in its 50th year, is critical to the success of my business: I could not survive without the annual sales generated at this show. Additional space at the BCEC will allow my company to expand and exhibit more products and services, which will make the Show more profitable for my business.

The Marine Industry in Massachusetts employs over 27,000 men and woman and is directly responsible for $1.7 Billion dollars in annual Massachusetts economic activity. Our industry has jobs to offer and is growing: we need an expanded New England Boat Show to sustain and grow our Massachusetts businesses and to remain competitive with the boater friendly neighboring states of Rhode Island and New Hampshire.

Opening the BCEC to the New England Boat Show will not only help my company but will also support a growing Massachusetts Marine Industry and afford exhibition and sales opportunities to over 300 Massachusetts businesses that languish on a waiting list for want of exhibition space. Helping the MMTA to add and keep good jobs in Massachusetts while simultaneously patronizing the BCEC--built with our tax dollars-is a win-win situation for the Commonwealth, its citizens and business owners.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of and favorable report of H 4153: I am personally available at any time to discuss this issue with you or your staff.

Sincerely,
