Massachusetts Marine Shrink Wrap Recycling Program - 2005 Boating Season Overview This year, the Massachusetts Marine Shrink Wrap Recycling Program will be coordinated by Haley & Aldrich, an engineering and environmental consulting firm, with generous support from the American Plastics Council and E. L. Harvey & Sons. Approximately 35 tons of white marine shrink wrap was collected and recycled during each of the past two years through this innovative program. Emma Aronson, an Environmental Scientist at Haley & Aldrich, will serve as this year's Program Coordinator, and will coordinate requests for services between the marinas and E. L. Harvey. Recycling Costs Again this year, our goal is to provide a recycling program that charges a nominal fee and is self-sustaining. To support this effort, E. L. Harvey and Sons has agreed to provide recycling services this year at last year's rates. Many local marinas charge between $11.00 to $17.00 per linear foot to shrink wrap boats for the winter season. For as little as 10¢ per linear foot, you can obtain complete shrink-wrap recycling services when it comes time to unwrap the boats this spring. The following table outlines this year's recycling services and costs:
Sharing Containers Marinas or boatyards who wish to share a container and split the cost may do so. Each marina must complete a Service Request for their portion of the container, and these Service Requests for shared services should be attached and sent together to Haley & Aldrich.
