GATE SHOW BILL PASSES LEGISLATURE
AWAITS GOVERNOR'S SIGNATURE
PLEASE MAKE ONE SUPPORTIVE PHONE CALL!
|
We are delighted to report that on August 3 at just after 11:00a.m., the
Massachusetts Senate enacted HB 4493 to allow Gate Shows in the state
Convention Center in Boston. Having already passed the House on July 31,
the bill is now on Governor Romney's desk for signature or veto. This bill
has been MMTA's highest priority for much of this year, because so many of
our members rely on the winter boat show for the year's success.
Please help us help you: make one phone call to Governor Mitt Romney's
office yourself (617-725-4005) and arrange for one from each of your
employees, colleagues or friends, to tell the Governor that the marine
trades statewide need this bill signed quickly. NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE MAKING
SUCH CALLS IS NEEDED.
You may speak with an aide or you may get the automated message line,
especially after hours. Both are tallied "for and against" hourly, so your
call is very meaningful. In either case, the sample script is simple and
straightforward:
"Please sign HB 4493 to allow Gate Shows in the new
state-owned convention center in Boston. My name is ________ and I'm
calling from [fill in your home or work zipcode]. [I work in Recreational
Boating] or [I know someone who works in Recreational Boating] and we need
a winter boat show in Boston and the new convention center is the only one
big enough to make the show work for everyone statewide. Please sign HB
4493".
