URGENT NOTICE TO ALL FUEL RETAILERS
NEW GASOLINE SULFUR STANDS IN EFFECT March 1, 2006:
During the recent Association of Marina Industries (AMI) conference in Orlando, Florida it was identified that as of March 1, 2006 all gasoline resellers would have to comply with an EPA fuel standard, issued several years prior. All gasoline sold must comply with lower sulfur standards (95 ppm); failure to comply with these standards could result in a fine
of up to $34,500 per day.
AMI formed a task force to mediate the demands placed on the marine industry by the EPA. Despite best efforts the Association of Marine Industries was unable to convince the EPA for an extension or a notice of "enforcement discretion."
Therefore it is imperative that all marina operators and or downstream
fuel retailers contact their fuel suppliers to find a viable solution
for you particular facility. For further information pertaining to this issue
please see the February addition of the AMI Advocate.
