ADVANCE MARINA MANAGEMENT COURSE By IMI

The International Marina Institute, a subsidiary of the
Association of Marina Industries, added Newport, R.I., to its list of
course locations. From March 26 to 31, IMI will be holding its Advanced
Marina Manager program in Newport. The AMM course provides training in
site planning, marina-development skills, marina-operation techniques,
business strategies, risks and liabilities, environmental policies, and
other topics as final preparation for IMI's Certified Marina Manager, or
CMM, designation. AMM participants must be AMI members.

to convene key experts and policymakers to discuss one of New England's
most versatile and extraordinary resources--its relationship to the sea.
The conference, featuring Rhode Island Senator Jack Reed as Keynote and
former Clinton administration Chief of Staff Leon E. Panetta as opening
speaker, will bring together leading experts in industry and business,
education, public policy and local and regional officials. This forum is
intended to kick off a continuing initiative to define, protect and

This workshop is intended
to be most useful to managers, planners, government officials at all
levels, legislators, consultants, and homeowner associations. Specialists
and resource agencies will present the technical aspects of beach
nourishment design principles, possible sediment sources, and
environmental issues relating to nourishment on both a large and small
scale.
