  • MMTA Economic Impact Study
    August 2000

By this time you should have received a questionnaire which is very important to the future of the Association. This is a survey—named IMPACT—on the marine business in Massachusetts and it’s potential effect on the State’s economy.

As we have advised in the past, we have been working on and have filed an application to obtain Educational Grants from the state to develop new means to attract and train employees. An important part of this grant is an impact study based on our industry. The last one was done over 12 years ago so obviously is out of date.

Not only is the information gathered from the survey important to our grant writing, but also in stressing the Association’s needs and positions to the Legislature. Of particular importance right now are sales tax and environmental issues.

While many have already returned the survey, we urge all others to do so immediately. As explained in the survey, all steps have been taken to protect the confidentiality of your replies.
