MASSASOIT COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Boating Trades Certificate I has evolved at Massasoit Community College into a 45 hour Certificate Course for those interested in a marine trades career.

Starting September 11th, the course meets Tuesday evenings—6:30 to 9:30.—at the Canton Campus, off Route 138 (exit 2 on Rte. 128).

The curriculum consists of 5 modules from 3 to 15 hours each.

I. The Boating Trades - An Overview— is a 3 hour course describing various opportunities available along with a brief history.

II. Marine Business Operations and Customer Service (6 hours) is a marine business primer. Customer service skills are stressed along with initiative in anticipating customer needs.

III. Basic Electricity for Marine Electrical Systems presents the various electrical systems used on boats (15 hours). Safety issues regarding electricity and water are stressed.

IV. Boatyard Skills (15 hours) emphasizes the basic skills needed in the boatyard or dealership. No matter which field in the marine industry is chosen, this course is important for a better understanding of the industry.
