  • Fore River Channel Restrictions

Because of the construction of the new Route 3A temporary bridge, the Fore River shipping channel will have a temporary safety zone during certain 6-day periods this summer. The safety zone will be from about 200 yards upstream and 100 yards downstream of the bridge and between the fendering system of the bridge. An alternate channel will be available on the western (Quincy) side of the main channel when the safety zone is enforced. Clearances in the alternate channel are as follows: vertical clearance (high tide) 30 feet; minimum depth (low tide) 14 feet; horizontal clearance (75 feet).

Proposed enforcement periods are July 15 thru July 20 and July 29 thru August 3. Two contingency periods may also be enforced: August 12 thru August 17 and August 26 thru August 31.
