PBY is currently seeking an experienced Marine Painter/Fiberglass Technician to join our team.  The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing, painting and varnishing both interior and exterior boat surfaces, including related parts. Familiarity with fiberglass repair and  knowledge of West System Epoxy products and how to use them is beneficial. Experience applying and spraying Gelcoat, Awlgrip and similar products, a plus. Buffing, shrink wrapping & other marine service skills are also advantageous. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in all listed qualifications, but we are willing to train or provide reinforcement training opportunities to the right person who possesses reasonable knowledge and general understanding of products and processes. Position Profile –  

 

Oyster Harbors Marine seeks a dynamic Service Manager to lead a team of highly skilled, tenured service supervisors and technicians to provide a world-class customer experience. The Service Manager has a key leadership role in overseeing the maintenance, repair upgrades, storage and timely delivery of boats to customers. The customer service focused Service Manager should have a strong understanding of marine systems, be highly organized, have strong communication skills, and be a team player. Hands on marine mechanical repair experience is preferred. Reporting directly to the GM, the Service Manager will oversee a deeply tenured staff to include a Mechanics + Electronics Supervisor, Yard Foreman, Detail Department, Service Advisers and technicians. A key component of the Service Manager’s responsibilities will be the preparation and delivery of new boats, coordinating directly with the Sales Manager.  

 

In addition, the Service Manager will:  

 

  • Communicate with customers and resolve all concerns and achieve a high level of customer satisfaction 
  • Lead, motivate, mentor and monitor the performance of all technicians or those working directly within the service department

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Regularly communicate with customers and determine needs
  • Provide clear and precise instructions on work orders for technicians

  • Promote the sale of additional labor services, parts or accessories in a professional manner for each customer.
  • Collect payment for work prior to releasing customer boat. In the event the repair cost is unknown initially, obtain customer approval on work order to diagnose issues, and then contact customer with estimate for repairs as soon as determined, and obtain approval.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and follow-up on sublet contractors.
  • Inspect quality of work performed as required, prior to delivery to the customer.
  • Finalize and invoice work orders.
  • Provide prompt, detailed and timely flow of all paperwork.

9. Greet customers at time of delivery and take to them to the Business Office for completion of required paperwork.
10. Explain to customer how the unit operates and where accessories have been installed.
11. Complete the warranty packet for each unit, review the unit’s packet of information provided and explain warranty.
12. Place follow up call to the customer with in one week of delivery.
13. Greet delivery drivers to help unload new units received at the dealership.
14. Check in units by verifying serial numbers on each unit against invoice.
15. Once bar codes labels have been printed, place bar codes on units received.
16. Assist with physical inventories.
17. May be required to serve as back up to Service Writer and / or Warranty Clerk positions.
18. Maintain a clean and professional work area.

Boat hauling to and from the water using conventional boat trailers as well as a hydraulic boat trailer. 2. Loading and unloading of boats from trailers to stands and blocking, and back onto trailers from stands and blocking. 3. Offloading new boats and trailers from shipping trucks and low beds. 4. Responsibilities: Perform wash and finish detailing on new boats, storage boats, and service boats, to include proper methods for cleaning windows, isinglass, canvas, vinyl upholstery, bilges and fiberglass. Use of high speed buffers to properly compound and or wax exterior hull surfaces. Perform scraping, sanding, and proper preparation of previously painted bottom paint for proper application of new paint. Perform proper de-waxing, sanding, priming and painting of the bottom of previously unpainted boat bottoms. Assist in the cleaning and daily maintenance of the dealership and yard to promote a clean and professional work environment. Job overview:
Work with a team of Captains to safely transport staff to and from the Boston Harbor Islands. Assist in managing Boston Harbor Islands mooring program.

Responsibilities:
The Boston Harbor Islands boat Captains primary responsibilities include:

  • Navigate any of our vessels to safely transport persons, equipment, and materials
  • Assist in maintenance of fleet vessels: 48’ passenger vessel, 74’LCM8, 25’ Parker pilothouse, 27’ LCM, 41’ USCG patrol boat, 40’ Sea Ark patrol boat, (3) 20’ Center console boats
  • Supervise the loading and unloading of vessels with knowledge of the carrying capacity and limits of each vessel
  • Prepare and maintain records and logs of maintenance, areas patrolled, materials transported, inventory of supplies and requisitions
  • Assist in management of mooring program
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Applicants must have at least one-year full time, or equivalent part-time experience in the operation and maintenance of vessels. Must possess a 50-ton inland USCG masters license. Local knowledge of navigating in and around Boston Harbor may be substituted for experience. Must have a valid TWIC card, CPR/First Aid, and radiotelephone operators license.

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation is a major steward of the commonwealth’s natural and cultural resources. The Boston Harbor Island natural recreation area is a unique partnership park with an abundance of natural and cultural resources that offers tremendous recreational and educational opportunities. DCR owns 16.5 of the 34 islands and peninsulas in the park and actively staffs six of the islands that are accessible by public ferry during the recreational season. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assists arriving and departing customers with docking and undocking

  • Keep clean equipment and facility. Inspect equipment for damage and safety
