About the Role:

Imtra’s service department consists of several positions that work closely together as a team. The service technician is an individual role responsible for running and maintaining the service shop, with input and cooperation from other members of the service team, product managers and engineering. The service technician evaluates, troubleshoots, and repairs products. Communicating warranty decisions and repair evaluation, with customers, vendors, and team members.

Qualifications and requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in the repair, maintenance and overhaul of automobiles, trucks, bulldozers, cranes, front end loaders, etc. of which (B) at least two years must have been in a supervisory capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions of a certificate or diploma from a recognized trade, technical or vocational school at the high school level or above with a major in automotive shop practice may be substituted for one year of the required (A) experience.

Specific Requirements:  Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 2 Motor Vehicles Operator’s License.  Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class C or hoisting license.

Following a week of alongside training, TS Kennedy departs Buzzards Bay on April 20th to support the teaching and training of freshmen, sophomore, and senior cadets in shipboard engineering systems. The successful candidate will instruct students in the "hands-on" laboratory and lecture components of the cadet engineering, and possess excellent knowledge of steam engineering. Conducted six days a week during daytime hours, training includes the evaluation of cadet S.T.C.W. assessments and evaluation.     • Operate heavy equipment including but not limited to:  forklifts, travelifts, and hydraulic trailers
    • Be able to operate machinery efficiently, effectively and demonstrate safe handling of vessels
    • Inspect, maintain and repair equipment to ensure operational
    • Perform related tasks such as pressure washing, bottom painting, block and stand vessels, and general facilities maintenance, as needed

We seek a responsible Launch Driver with experience driving power boats and a United States Coast Guard credential to operate our launch service during the weekends this summer. The Weekend Launch Driver is responsible for bringing customers to and from their boats located in Arey’s Pond, keeping the launch vessel clean and ready for passengers, and assisting customers as needed. The pace of this job varies based on the day’s weather and tide. On busier days the launch driver can expect to do a dozen or more trips, and on slower days there may be only a few. We are hiring for a 6, 9 or 12 month (potentially) position from March 1 - December 1.

·      Working dock shifts right alongside dock staff, leading by example

·      Clean and maintaining their fleet of boats to FBC Excellence Standards 

·      Putting out fair schedules 2 weeks in advance to be approved by supervisor

·      Changing pumps, fuses, props and other minor mechanical issues.

·      Holding members accountable for reservations, making confirmation calls and getting members on boats from the waitlist.

·      Ensuring check outs are being done correctly and fuel fees are being collected 

·      Making recommendations to the Operations Assistant when on scene weather is deteriorating

·      Recruit, mentor and train new staff

·      Continued product knowledge and training

·      Scheduling weekly deep cleaning for all boats

·      Using multiple technology platforms to communicate with members, staff and maintenance team

·      Notify ops when an unexpected change in reservations or boat movements happen

·      Maintain proper inventory needs

·      Notifying supervisors via phone and maintenance app when boats are damaged

·      Always putting safety 1st

REQUIREMENTS:

·      High School diploma or equivalent

·      NABLA approved boating safety certification required

·      Able to bend, kneel, get in to hard-to-reach places and lift 30 lbs

Position: Program Instructor in the Composite Boat Building Program at the Landing School. This position is a full-time, permanent position, functioning within the direct supervision of the Director of Education, hired by the President of the School.

Objective: The Composite Boat Building curriculum is designed to provide students with a structured learning environment in which they can become knowledgeable and proficient in the practical application of the fundamental principles of construction and manufacturing techniques in the composites industry, primarily focused on the Marine Trades Industry

The program instructs students in the fabrication of composite components and the construction of commercial products, including small, modern boats, using various non-wood materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, Kevlar, and natural fibers such as flax.

Teaching students how to work on and complete projects on schedule with a high level of quality are primary goals. Projects for the school may vary from year to year and may include a boat build and associated tooling.

Duties and Responsibilities: In fulfillment of the objectives, the CBB Instructor, together with other members of the CBB faculty, will:

 

• Continue to develop and improve the curriculum through syllabus, lesson plans, teaching equipment/materials, and scheduling of student work.

• Work directly with students, with primary responsibility for lectures, demonstrations, bench work, practice applications, and the boat being built that year.

• Assist students in learning, individually, in small groups, and as a class, through clear communication; patient, understanding, approach; thorough and professional knowledge; mature leadership; and positive, honest academic advice.

• Manage Composite Boat Building student project(s) and project boats:

o Develop project schedules with milestones and completion dates.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains all materials, supplies and services needed by submitting orders to vendors.
  • Chooses the best vendor to be used based on each situation.
  • Verifies specifications, confirms price, delivery, and payment terms. Expedites orders as necessary to meet deadlines. Obtains recommendations for substitute items based on deadlines.

·       Determines sell price and margin based on dealer agreements and market conditions.

·       Maintains inventory files with current cost, sell price and vendor information.

·       Creates purchase orders and enters the data into the computer system in a timely fashion.

  • Verifies purchase orders are complete and accurate. Codes all purchases to the appropriate work order or general ledger.
  • Prints purchase orders and collates with supporting documentation.
  • Maintains purchase records and other related documentation.
  • Tracks order status from order to fulfillment and communicates delivery updates.
  • Provides price quotes for jobs as required.
  • Works effectively and communicates with employees.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with suppliers.
  • Implements and maintains the best possible sourcing strategies that provide a perfect balance of internal and external customer service.
  • Negotiates with suppliers to obtain optimal quality, price, delivery, and terms.
  • Stays up to date on industry news. Attends industry trade shows and coordinates within the company to make purchases with special show pricing/terms.

·       Reviews and provides summary information for the purchasing credit card to the accounting department monthly.

  • Actively seeks process improvement opportunities. Works collaboratively with colleagues to recommend changes and uses best practices to streamline work.
  • Performs other duties related to purchasing and inventory control as required.

 

 Requirements and Skills

  • Strong marine background with an understanding of marine supply chain organization
  • 3+ years of purchasing experience preferred
  • Proficiency with computers, office equipment and software programs
  • Strong negotiation skills and an understanding of cost and margins
  • Positive approach and strong work ethic
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, with consistent attention to detail
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and suppliers in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines
  • Ability to creatively solve problems in a changing environment
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
