EDUCATION COMMITTEE
At a recent Director’s meeting of the MMTA , it was voted to establish a foundation to be named the Massachusetts Marine Trades Educational Trust. The purpose is to promote the future of the recreational marine industry in the state by funding programs that support the recruitment and training of new employees to our trades as well as those that supply continuing education and training of existing employees. Also to support educational programs that promote recreational boating, particularly those designed for young boaters. This is a charitable non-profit 501 c (3) organization.
The management of the Trust would be done by MMTA’s Education Committee, Ed Lofgran, Chairman. Other members include Kurt Ainsworth, Mike Borrelli, Bill Fairbanks, Wally foster, Tina Giambro, Dave Kaiser, Hank Keene, Leon Roach, Dan Shadt, Ridge White, and Steve Wyman.
At present, the committee is engaged in seeking funding from many sources, including the OMC Foundation. They are seeking suggestions for such funding. Contact Ed Lofgren (781) 749-3250.
