CARLETON BURR
Carleton Burr, owner and operator of Burr Brothers Boats, Inc., of Marion, died December 26th. He was an original member of Mass. Marine Trades Association and its President from 1978 to 1980.
Also, he was an active member of the Boating and Recreational Vehicle Safety Advisory Board until 1986, and a member of the Republican State Committee for 12 years. As an active member of ABBRA, he and his wife, Gertrude, arranged many annual meetings – always to include his other passion, Tennis!
About 600 people attended a memorial service on Jan. 3rd, in first Unitarian Church, New Bedford. We were pleased to hear the many accolades for his public and private works. The Association gave a memorial contribution in his name to the Mattapoisett Library Trust, Inc.
His son “Toby”, continues as President of the firm.
