EMPLOYEE SOLUTIONS
One of our most pressing problems is the lack of qualified employees entering the marine trades. This is especially true of technicians. It is ironic that, at a time of high unemployment, many jobs go begging in our industry.
In an effort to attract more young people to careers in the marine trades, and to provide for additional technical education/training in out state, the MMTA Board of Directors founded the Mass. Marine Trades Educational Trust.
MMTET is a non-profit foundation that will fund efforts to accomplish the educational goal of MMTA. Three trustees govern the foundation: Ed Lofgren of 3A Marine Service, Education Chair for MMTA; Ray Gaffey, Executive Director for MMTA; and John Spillane, Attorney for MMTET. The MMTA Education Committee serves as an advisory panel to the Trust.
Current MMTET initiatives include the awarding of scholarships to persons pursuing a career in the MA Marine Trades and a vocational school initiative to assist in the establishment and continuance of marine tech programs across the state.
To accomplish these goals, MMTET is actively soliciting funding. If you can assist with contributions, donations, memorials, or bequests, please contact Ed Lofgren (781) 749-3250, e-mail: 3asales@3amarine.com
Please help us achieve this goal!
